A little more about me!

I'm Rebecca Downie, a brand photographer and visibility coach based in Singapore. I help ex-corporate women step into visibility with clarity and confidence through strategic brand photography and coaching that goes beyond the lens.

From Corporate to Creative Entrepreneur

I'm a Brit living in Singapore, mum to two brilliant kids, wife, and someone who's never quite shaken the travel bug that bit me at 19. I've explored over 30 countries, lived in Sydney for years, and now call Singapore home. But my biggest adventure? Building a business that lights me up and lets me show up fully - for my family and for the women I work with.

After my second child was born, I knew I wanted to create something that gave me flexibility without sacrificing ambition. I wanted to be present for school drop-offs and pick-ups, but I also craved work that felt meaningful, creative, and deeply aligned with who I am. That's how Rebecca Downie Photography came to life - and it's evolved into something far beyond what I imagined.

Why I Do What I Do

I've always been driven by a desire to make a difference. At one point, I even considered a career in politics. These days, I channel that energy into supporting women in business - helping them step into visibility, own their authority, and build brands that reflect who they truly are. That passion led me to launch The Athena Network here in Singapore, which has become one of the most rewarding parts of my work and life. Recently it led me to co found an Awards platform for female founders called Makers and Shapers.

I've learned that I'm fuelled by people — but not just any people. The right people. My tribe. The ones who challenge, inspire, and cheer each other on. I'm still navigating the balance between my extroverted, energetic side and my need for quiet, reflective time (thank you, Human Design, for that lightbulb moment). These days, you'll find me walking through MacRitchie Reservoir or the Botanic Gardens, recharging in nature, or sitting around a table with my closest friends, probably with a glass of wine in hand.

What Drives Me

What I do now goes beyond photography. I help women step into visibility - not because it's easy, but because it matters. I know what it's like to shed the identity your employer gave you and figure out how to be seen for who you really are. That's why my work blends brand photography with visibility coaching: because showing up isn't just about the photos. It's about knowing what to say, where to show up, and how to do it in a way that feels like you.

My mission is simple: to help more women be visible and find their voice. Because you are bloody awesome. It's about time the world knew it.
